The Importance of Electrical Engineer

What Electrical Engineers do for society is quite important. The top areas you’ll see Electrical Engineers are in manufacturing and construction. Engineers are found in most all things used daily. Technology with Electrical Engineers are equal to kitchens with no chefs.

They attend a 4 year ABET accredited college at a minimum and get a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or the BSEE degree. Some will continue to get a Masters Degree in engineering also. After college they may acquire PE license to be a professional engineer registered with unique states throughout America. Often college graduates will become EIT or Engineer in Training after passing a Fundamentals of Engineering Exam. After that, you have to attain a certain amount of expertise when working directly under another Professional Engineer or a PE. All this will differ from state to state but typically that’s the development of a student towards obtaining PE certification. It must be noted that not all engineering positions require PE certification rather than all electrical engineers will have PE certifications.

After college, an engineer will receive a position with business specific electrical work. For example in fabricating the function of an engineer will differ from what a power business or microprocessor engineer would do. The sub groups of an EE will be power, electronics, control systems, signal processing and telecommunications. The job of an electrical engineer surrounds us. The basis of mobile phone design, to computers down to the power coming from the wall outlet powering your computer all leads back to the work of electrical engineers.

An engineer can play the role of inventor and designer. As engineers invent things patent protection can be sought to defend the idea. Frequently things devised within the constraints of employment might become the property of the employer only FYI. Things to mention as examples of this could be computers, light bulbs and mobile phones. An electrical engineer will design a circuit board with components like resistors and capacitors to work for its intended use.

In the building business an engineer would design circuits and power delivering apparatus so as to keep power to the end user. For instance in a Hospital setting, certain standards exist for machines that require power and cannot afford interruption. A good example of this could be life support machines. A physician would not want a patient to die due to power failure so electric engineers would design circuits, assess loads, and hook into an emergency generator such as to keep constant power. These are simply a few of the ways electrical engineers contribute to society.
